Lake Bled (Slovenia)

The Slovenian Alps
Enhance the train, cool breeze welcomed us to Lake Bled. This glacial lake situated in the Alps ports only island in Slovenia strange and charming pastoral paradise. We initially planned to set up camp by the water, but as we peered into the distance under a slight moonlight, we learned that the bank near us is smothered in cement. The mountain was, we thought.To determine the trip was easy. The road is wide and the moon shines down on us with a welcoming glow. Within 20 minutes we had the road wound far away in the mountains, but the visibility began to disappear. The leaves grew thick and colorful moonlight cast only faint glow of the land before us. In backpacks and amplify the light from our small flashlight began to flicker. After an hour of hiking, the moon barely visible above us, we climbed to our vacation pay guided only by the light of phone.


Both lay there, exhausted yet relieved, lights flashed in the distance. Faint at first, we were able to convince ourselves that the flashes were extreme bursts of energy from the powerful Slovenian fireflies. As the thunder started to roar, and raindrops spattered on our faces, they washed away all our admiration for this pretended species. After finally stopped, the air smells like kneeling on the ground and fresh cut grass. Everything was quiet. We were surrounded by gorgeous mountains looking down to the most spectacular niche on earth. In a feat is difficult, but worth a hundred times more. With dim moonlight illuminates reflective acceptance waters of Lake Bled, we soaked peacefully now.

Immediately upon entry into the Tourist Information Center in Ljubljana, the staff will tell you, a visit to Lake Bled is on top of the list when it comes to things to see and do in Slovenia. In contrast, cave tours, Lake Bled will not cost you 30-40 euros, you can enjoy its natural wealth for free! Add in a heavy sleeping bag and tent, and camp under the stars in the sky beautiful Lake Bled in the night. In the morning enjoy a brisk swim in freshwater alpine lake. Words to the wise though, if you plan on camping, make sure that the scale of the mountain before sunset!

Here you can enjoy the curious charm of quaint restaurants and Church of the Assumption of Mary. Visiting Bled island would not be complete without the usual climb 99 steps to the church and ringing the bell, wishing to hopes for free! Bled Castle Perched on a rocky outcropping over the lake, is the oldest castle in Slovenia in accordance with written sources dating from 1011. Occupying a strategic and scenic location, Bled Castle has long been a conference site for political figures in Slovenian history. Today, the castle offers visitors a dining experience 130 m above Lake Bled. He also hosts a museum in baroque rooms, cellar and gallery grass for those who want to bring home a taste of Bled.


The best time of year to visit Lake Bled in May when it was still too cool for mosquitoes, but just cold enough for thick sleeping bag.At any time during the period from June to September is also a good bet, as there are plenty of outdoor activities to participate in and time allows for hours of enjoyment of the lake.
